Arnold

I'm off with Olivia for a few days on a girls trip, with a friend and her daughter.  They have a cabin in Arnold, CA.  So in the midst of packing and laundry I thought I should do a post, lol.  Earlier this week, a visit to Sophia & Ivan in Berkeley. Sophia @ Berkeley Hort. Nursery.

We made our usual stops @ Flowerland and American Soil & Stone.  I promised them the next time we will visit a museum instead of rock and plant shopping.  Ivan and I were SO excited to see they had a bin of pot rocks.  We haven't run across these for 2-3 years!
Olivia pointed out another stash of them!
I'll do a proper accounting of plant purchases in the future.  I know how some of you get!
I've been seriously overhauling the slope between the old & new grounds.  Now is the time to pull all those little dang clovers that crop up everywhere. Take out plants that are just "o.k." and extend a bit onto the new property to blend it all together.  2 yards of 3/8 CA gold, and 1 yard of 3/4 CA gold.  For top dressing.
Sneak peak, I did find another Grevillea gaudichaudii at Flowerland!  I've been searching for another due to Loree @ Dangergarden.com's influence.  It does bloom, but really I wanted it for the cascading over rocks and down the slope properties.
I actually put on shoes!  Dr. suggesting "wouldn't this be a great time for snacks and naps?"
Removed a big old Yucca that was full of detritus.  The edges of the leaves are super sharp, a few months back I could've done serious damage to my eye if it wasn't for my contact lenses. GET Out!
The rootball took a bit of effort, not too bad!
We had a dry lightning warning in place last night.  A dry thunderstorm that produces lightning & thunder but all the precipitation evaporates long before it hits ground.  And we're dry, so fire danger.  Anyway, the lighting was crazy weird this morning.  I'm leaving mid project, which is not my favorite.  It's completely undone AND I'm feeling so inspired.  Ah!

Leucospermum 'Veldfire' and Dudleya stuffed in pot rock with Phylica pubescens peeking over the rock at them both. It will be very hot today & tomorrow near 100°.  Fingers crossed everything is alive when I get back.

Pot rock centers to be filled with TBD.   I mulched around the new plants with rock, and watering system is in place.
I'm sure Dr. will keep an eye on everything.
The big mess will wait.
Dang, the summer is flying by.   It feels like everyone has a busy schedule right now.

  2. As much as I hate wishing my life away, summer is welcome to take a supersonic flight out of here. Enjoy Arnold, maybe you can find a plant and rock museum?
