Are these poisonous?

There is a new show on Netflix, This is a Gardening Show. I believe the first episode is available Wednesday, 4/22.  I'm curious if anyone is going to give it a watch?  I'm definitely going to give it a chance.  I love gardening and laughing, seems like a no brainer. It seems to focus on a garden/human connection, more than serious gardening.   I deleted my last post on the birthday fun.  I received a nasty comment, and it made me uneasy.  Have any of you fellow bloggers had that happen?  Seemed strange for a garden blog to get someone worked up.  How could any of us actually have a "hater"?  I don't even want to use that phrase, yuck.   If you did manage to catch the post, or for Anon.  I would like to put out there -we had permission.   Moving on, we had some rain overnight that has everything looking fresh.    Have a great day!  Let me know in the comments if you've ever experienced a grumpy com...

I'm working on it.

Along the back of the back, by the slope.  Some nice things and some not as enjoyable things.  In the summer heat, you can walk along the back and feel a little cooler.  Thanks to the pretty and ridiculously messy, constantly dropping pepper tree that hangs over our property.   And at the very corner, an oversized Viburnum.  When I get to the corner, I always think "yuck".  *Not to say Viburnum is bad, just the way I've let it get out of control with lots of up high growth and dead interior.  Time for a change. Getting in there, ew it was stinky?  Like an old wet dog's bathroom. I was texting Ivan at this point, he offered to get the stump out.  He's always enthusiastic for a takedown.  Knowing he could whip this out in 1-2 minutes, compared to my working on it for an hour - I left it for him to take care of over Easter weekend. I did get 12' of viburnum chopped and cleaned up afterall. Like the incomplete paint job? Ha ha, I'...

A walk back (April version)

I had an idea flash through my head this morning while running.  Once a month, why not post older photos from the garden from that given month.  It's gone through so many changes, why not?! The oldest photo I can find of the back, April 2012.  Little Vincent lounging on the couch 💕. We had grass put in, and played some badminton from time to time.  The green house on the right was the chicken coop for 14 years. When we first moved in the entire back was dirt & weeds.  One of these months the digging of the pool will turn up. Olivia collecting eggs on the front porch, Easter morning, 2013. I can't believe how small the street tree is.  Also, I realized I took photos of people back then not really plants or my garden.  That changed over the years!   In 2013, we planted the tulip tree in the front.  I had removed that tiny circle of grass for it, ah soon I would keep going with that. Along with grass in the front, the bushes "came" wit...

Rainy day

Image
We finally got a little rain, and as much as I want sunshine every day - we needed it!  I decided to make a trip out to Flowerland & Berkeley Hort.  I typically show photos of Flowerland, but thought I'd switch it up and show my other usual stop.  Berkeley Hort is actually a much larger nursery, but Flowerland looks a little snazzier in photos.  Walking through their display garden near the front, everything looked so nice.  I loved the soft grass bobbing along this pathway, despite my grass phobia.  I always worry it will spread like crazy or become a massive clump I have to divide.   I'm sure the grey skies didn't hurt, but this Yucca gloriosa v. recurvifolia 'Bright Star' was LIVING up to it's name.  Let's get shopping!  Front perennials, very well stocked.  I usually hold off in this area, and opt for the 4" (more affordable) size. The artemisia pulled me over.   Pond/boggy plants. I've always had a thing for...
