Are these poisonous?
There is a new show on Netflix, This is a Gardening Show. I believe the first episode is available Wednesday, 4/22.
I'm curious if anyone is going to give it a watch? I'm definitely going to give it a chance. I love gardening and laughing, seems like a no brainer. It seems to focus on a garden/human connection, more than serious gardening.I deleted my last post on the birthday fun. I received a nasty comment, and it made me uneasy. Have any of you fellow bloggers had that happen? Seemed strange for a garden blog to get someone worked up. How could any of us actually have a "hater"? I don't even want to use that phrase, yuck.
If you did manage to catch the post, or for Anon. I would like to put out there -we had permission.
Moving on, we had some rain overnight that has everything looking fresh.
Have a great day! Let me know in the comments if you've ever experienced a grumpy comment. I'm truly curious and surprised to be on the receiving end, especially for such a happy & fun story.
Psst: that's what the "delete comment" is for...
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you got the rain. The weather people kept saying chance of rain for us, but I didn't believe them. And it looks like I was right. The rain hit way to the north of us.
It felt tainted, lol. I did delete the comment, and then dumped the post. I still think it's odd.
DeleteThe weather people! We were warned of rain Sunday-Wednesday, really just a one day event.
Seeing who the host is, I'm wondering if it really is a gardening show. I'd love to check it out.
ReplyDeleteHe is hilarious, I'm looking forward to it.
DeleteWtf re birthday post? Some people suck, plain and simple. I've gotten my share of odd comments, but nothing like that.
ReplyDeleteI probably overreacted by deleting. I think they were in a "mood".
DeleteSorry about the post. Don’t let them rob your joy.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not, you're right -it was a fabulous weekend!
DeleteI read the birthday post, including the comment... It was so shocking it felt like a slap. I had to get away.
ReplyDeleteLater in the evening I went back to it, but by then it was gone. I can only imagine how it made you feel and I understand why you deleted the entire thing.
Since your own birthday is approaching I thought I'd let you know, you don't look a day over 45: so youthful, energetic and fabulous, a bright light in the gardening blogosphere.
I'm not subscribed to Netflix so I won't be watching the show you mentioned. I hope it is fun and meets your expectations.
Chavli
Chavli, you are so wonderful and warm. Always, every time your comments are a joy. On my blog and on others - Thank You, seriously.
DeleteHi Friend,
ReplyDeleteI did not see the comment.
I loved the birthday post, the photos of your family and your story about the rock, wheelbarrow and barn cat.
Regarding haters, I do have some strange comments pop up too. For some reason they are about the current war?? WEIRD, like I can do anything about it.
I do not have a Netflix subscription, keep us updated.
It's good the weird comments are few and far between. I've let it roll off my back. will do! Thanks Carla!
DeleteWell, darn, I missed the controversial post! I don't recall ever getting anything nasty, but I did get one just a few days ago where someone told me that the translation of a Japanese peony name I had listed was wrong. I looked it up on several sources, but it says that I'm right, so I ignored it. As for the Netflix show, I watch tons of gardening content (I'm currently hooked on the Proven Winners podcast with Stacy Hirvela, who is so knowledgeable). I will check this out, although is it a true garden show or a comedy?
ReplyDeleteHa, an incorrect correction! I'll check out that podcast, I missed that one. I'm thinking the show is focused on encouraging gardening. A push we don't need, :) but I think it looks uplifting.
DeleteOh gosh, sorry about the nasty comment! I didn't see it, but I always love your posts. Sorry you had to go through that! I don't allow anonymous posts--partly because I never know if they're real people or scammers or bots or whatever. I truly appreciate folks who include their names with their posts, even if they select "Anonymous" or can't seem to comment using the Name/URL option (Google and Blogger can make things difficult, even though they're great tools). Back to your wonderful post today--your plants are AMAZING, as always. I did see an add for that show, and I want to watch it, too. Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteThank you Beth, you are a good reminder that most people are super kind and supportive! *And good idea to approve comments.
DeleteI'm sorry you had a bad experience from a commenter. I missed the post. Gardening bloggers have always felt safe, friendly and supportive. Your plants look happy.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susie, they are just that :) !
DeleteI did notice the post was missing. I stopped posting to one of my blogs for a long time after getting a series of really weird comments for a while. I moderate them, but they still made me nervous. Rows of "die" and things like that. Anonymous of course.
ReplyDeleteI don't have Netflix. I'd give it a pass anyway, I really can't stand Zach Galifianakis. Maybe in a certain role I haven't seen yet. That's the way with some, usually comedians, I dislike, I see them in a different sort of role, like dramatic, and they are terrific. Baskets was a great show, in spite of him, Louis Anderson carried it!
I've seen weird comments like that on other's blog. They usually get deleted quickly, but yeah -very off putting. The Zach show was very underwhelming, I won't be watching any other episodes. I loved Louis Anderson in Baskets!
DeleteWe're not subscribed to Netflix any longer, but if your review says that the show is good perhaps I'll consider signing up again. As for nasty comments I've had a few. Sometimes I delete them, sometimes I let them stand because really they say more about the commenter than about me, or my blog.
ReplyDeleteIt was short and I wouldn't recommend. Agree, I've moved on :)
DeleteSorry for the hate you received. As danger garden pointed out, it says more about the person making the comment than about you. Just shake it off...people like that aren't worth your time or thought.
ReplyDeleteVery true, thank you!
DeleteI watched the series - first one! With the kids.. Loved it :)
ReplyDeleteAh, I missed the birthday drama too. I've not had any negative comments, just lots of phishing and spam, which I block. My blog is set up so that I must approve any new commenters before their comment appears. That keeps the riff raff out.
ReplyDeleteI started watching the gardening show, but then lost interest after the first few minutes and sort of wandered off. Idk, I am sort of a lazy bum when it comes to reading garden books and watching garden programs. It seems more of a winter activity. Poorly timed with the onset of spring, when I would much rather be outside.
I should change my settings, here I am welcoming all the riff raff! I felt the same, it didn't hold my interest.
