GOLD
It took 3 days (2 were afternoon only) of shoveling, but I have most of the front top dressed. I say most because there are 2 beds not complete, makes no sense to top them off yet. Of course, I CANNOT wait to fill in all the empty spots!
A neighbor drove up and wanted to talk, I'm sorry it's in 2 parts.
It is very gold, lol - but it softens over time. Somehow it all looks more natural as time goes on and plants get larger. We did get light rain yesterday, finally. Today I spent the afternoon weeding while the ground was softened. More rain forecast for next week.
I had enough gold fines leftover to spruce up the pathways in the back with a fine coat & a bit of raking.
I l💚ve when the sun is a bit higher in the sky and starts hitting more of the back garden. The Dudleya are looking February fine, as they do. Dudes.
The spruced up pathways give it a boost.
Thankfully the aloes didn't suffer from the rain, hopefully next week is the same.
This Boophone looks like it's growing horns, ole'
A Happy Valentine's, or Galentine's Day to everyone!

Looking good. At the end of the 2nd video we can see you in shadow form.
ReplyDeleteI really need to practice, I have a new phone but somehow the camera seems like a downgrade. Ha, yes the sun was behind me.
DeleteWow, that's SO impressive! You are so creative, and the landscaping is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you Beth, I look forward to it all "growing up"!
DeleteIt’s amazing to see the videos. Are most of your plants out front or do you have an outback too? I should know by now, but I don’t.
ReplyDeleteOh, I should've described it better. The videos are the front new garden. The photos are all the back garden, it's more filled in and established!
DeleteWow, this is just amazing. The orange aloe is my favorite. I can't wait to see it all progress. Incredible job!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Phillip! That Aloe 'Tangerine' has never looked so fine - the drier January really helped.
DeleteGreat job, Tracy! I love the Boophone. I had one once but it was run over by a contractor during our renovation years ago and I've yet to find a replacement.
ReplyDeleteOh No! I stepped on a small mangave a few months back and it still hasn't forgiven me - I don't know if it ever will. Thanks Kris. :). I really can't wait for it to fill in and look more natural.
DeleteO.M.G. Your front garden overhaul is nothing short of astonishing. The mounds, the rocks, the PLANTS! You must have had an impressive hoard kept out of sight for a while. The black fence looks amazing. This is one great 'reveal'. Those initial videos are going to be so much fun to look back at. You Rock!
ReplyDeleteChavli
I did and probably still have a bit of a plant hoard, lol. It's always so shocking to look back, I forget so much. Thank you Chavli :)!!!
Grazie Gabriel, è bello vedere giardini diversi e vedere cosa prospera. Molte cose che crescono così bene nel tuo splendido giardino verrebbero bruciate qui.
DeleteVi auguriamo una meravigliosa primavera!
That's quick work, and the big plants from Hans really give it a settled look. So many, many beautiful plants! I kept expecting the camera to turn the corner and scan the back garden -- I forget if there's a fence there or if you can walk front to back on the paths. Incredible job, Tracy!
ReplyDeleteIt feels like I took forever, there was so much to remove. I agree, the bigger plants are really helping it not all feel so tiny. We have black metal gates on both sides, you can walk through on the pathways. It used to be fenced off on one side and it was a such a pain in the a** to walk all the way around. Thank you, I can't wait for things to fill in.
DeleteSo good! You've got your own mini botanical garden there.
ReplyDeleteThat's very kind, it feels very juvenile at the moment. What will croak, what will thrive? lol, time will tell :)
DeleteCroak or thrive, much of it is out of our hands. If there's anything I've learned, it's that.
DeleteAs I'm sitting here dreading the cold rain predicted, I needed to hear that... there isn't anything I can do about it.
DeleteIt looks so good! I can't believe how much you've accomplished already!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gerhard!
DeleteHappy Valentine’s Day my friend. Hope it is full of hope, joy and love.

Again, the transformation is simply astonishing. The amount of work you put in to update this garden is inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jerry!
DeleteHi, It looks amazing. You have worked so hard, it looks so good. A project full of hard work and the love of plants. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Carla!
DeleteWow…this is amazing! Your garden looks like it should be on a botanical garden tour. I absolutely love every single inch of what you have done!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's a wonderful compliment - thank you!
