One Banana, Two Banana!  I decided I was being soft waiting around to start this project, what the heck was I waiting for?  *Picture from August 2022.  The Blue Java bananas got about 12 feet tall this year, but even with copious amounts of fertilizer, compost and lots of WATER nary a banana bloom. This was the 3rd year and I feel ready to give up on this experiment.  These cold hardy bananas do survive the winter here, but who knows if they will ever bloom.  Time to transform the bed!

Begin the digging!

Timberrrrr!  haha - this is about 3' tall.  Looks smaller in the picture.    As I was ready to saw this into smaller chunks, I had a change of heart.

Moved ONE of the Blue Java Banana to the front yard, what's one more year?    Now, it will definitely bloom as it is by the fence and path so exposed to our neighborhood's 'old lady fruit stealer'.  She was recently stealing lemons, found the note that said "Please knock if you'd like a few lemons, don't steal them off our tree". She grabbed the note, threw it to the ground and continued picking lemons!  *Neighbor caught it on video.  I'm sure this is the same woman who wanted to climb my slope to pick the neighbors pomengranates a few years back.  She walks up the street with a long pole/fruit picker.

A good start clearing the bed, saved a couple David Austin rose bushes for I to plant in his Grandma's yard.  'Jubilee Celebration' and 'Princess Alexandra of Kent'.  They are lovely, just don't have room.  Also some dahlia tubers were saved.  I'm fine with keeping the speedwell and perhaps some salvia in the cactus bed.  And the catnip & catmint stay!  Moved a delphinium and a penstemon to the front garden.

Growing in an old bird feeder, so pink!

Dr. Feelgood saying goodbye to the bananas, he's disappointed he never got the chance to chase all the monkeys out of the yard.
